This is a hands-on, production-facing contract role where you will work with core network components and management tools to ensure high availability of 4G and 5G data and voice services, respond to incidents, perform integrations and upgrades, and collaborate with engineering teams on deployments and service activations.

About The Role
Hunter Scouts is seeking a Packet Core Support Engineer to provide onsite operational support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for mobile packet core network nodes (EPC/IMS/5GC) for a major telecommunications customer in Memphis, TN. This is a hands-on, production-facing contract role where you will work with core network components and management tools to ensure high availability of 4G and 5G data and voice services, respond to incidents, perform integrations and upgrades, and collaborate with engineering teams on deployments and service activations.
Responsibilities
- Operate, manage, and support Nokia EPC/IMS/5GC core network nodes in production for both data and voice services
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across 4G/5G core interfaces and protocols; perform integrations, upgrades, and patches
- Provide onsite incident response, root cause analysis, and change management with the customer
- Monitor performance and reliability, implement fixes/optimizations, and document configurations and changes
- Execute configuration, provisioning, and maintenance via CLI and applicable vendor management GUI/tools
- Coordinate with engineering teams for deployments, migrations, and service activations
- Must currently be located within a 50-mile radius of Memphis, Tennessee
- Minimum experience: 3 years managing, operating, and supporting mobile core networks (EPC/IMS/5GC), with at least 2 years of recent hands-on experience (within the past 2 years) on the vendor platform used by the customer
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship
- Must be able and willing to work onsite at the customer location in Memphis, TN (full-time, 40 hours/week)
- Must be able to meet and pass NSA background check requirements
- Hands-on experience with Diameter, SIP and core interfaces (S1, S6a, S11, S5/S8, N2, N4, N7) and related troubleshooting
- Experience with vendor management tools and O&M via CLI and GUI (e.g., CMU/CMG/CMM or similar platforms)
- Experience with PCRF, HSS, PCF, UDM, AUSF, UDR or similar subscriber/authentication components
- Experience with containerized CNF deployments and relevant management GUIs
- Prior experience working directly with large telecom equipment vendors or their customers in production environments
- This is an onsite contract role supporting a telecom customer in Memphis, TN; remote candidates will not be considered.
