About the Role
Mortgage Processor is responsible for providing a fully processed mortgage application to underwriting for a credit decision. The Mortgage Processor is to obtain the documentation needed to close the mortgage application on the closing date. Objective is reached by when purchase transaction meets the commitment date and closing date outlined in the Purchase Sales Contract.
**THIS IS A ONSITE ROLE - MUST BE BASED IN OR NEAR BUFFALO, NY.
Responsibilities
- Review the initial loan file to evaluate credit worthiness and adherence to product and underwriting guidelines.
- Review the loan file based on the AUS system recommendations. Update AUS as needed.
- Ensure files meeting State and Federal compliance regulations.
- Satisfy outstanding conditions not deemed as credit related (IE: initial disclosures).
- Determine outstanding documentation needed to complete the processing of the mortgage application. Work with the borrower to obtain the required documentation.
- Order property and loan documentation including but not limited to the appraisal, credit report supplements and title insurance.
- Submit the loan package to underwriter for a credit decision.
- Assist with obtaining homeowner policies and title insurance policies.
- Maintain the LOS system with accurate data.
- Communicate and develop a strong working relationship with all parties on the transaction.
- Strong understanding of Conventional, FHA, USDA and VA guidelines.
- Work with the Closing Department to obtain and ensure the accuracy of the Closing Disclosure.
- Maintain a pipeline of a minimum of 35 files.
- Other tasks that may be assigned by the Processing Team Leader.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
- High School degree or equivalent.
- A 4-year college degree is preferred.
Required Experience
- Two or more years’ experience in mortgage processing.
