Position Summary:
HGA is seeking an experienced Survey Technician to support Oil & Gas projects from our Hattiesburg office. This role is responsible for processing survey data, preparing project deliverables, and serving as the critical link between field crews and the Design Department. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise with AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, and survey workflows, ensuring accurate and timely information is used to develop project drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare information for survey crews, including stakeout files, KMZ files, and site-specific maps for field use.
Download and process field data collected by survey crews using Trimble Business Center.
Develop AutoCAD base map drawings using collected and processed data.
Perform survey-related calculations to support design and construction requirements.
Act as liaison between field crews and the Design Department to ensure accuracy and consistency of information.
Collaborate with project managers, surveyors, and design staff to meet project schedules and quality standards.
Maintain organized records of survey data, calculations, and project deliverables.
Stay current with surveying software tools and best practices.
Qualifications:
5–10 years of survey technician experience preferred.
Strong proficiency with AutoCAD required.
Experience with Trimble Business Center for data processing required.
Solid understanding of survey principles, calculations, and workflows.
Oil & Gas or industrial project experience strongly preferred.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work across field and design teams.
High school diploma required; Associate’s degree or vocational training in surveying, drafting, or related field preferred.
