Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead and support the design and execution of mechanical systems for complex industrial projects. This role involves performing detailed engineering calculations, developing design drawings, collaborating on 3D modeling, and supporting construction and procurement activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and guide the mechanical design process from concept through detailed engineering, collaborating with engineers and designers to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Estimate and track engineering effort and resources required for assigned projects, supporting effective planning and execution.
Participate in field surveys to support optimal equipment layout and ensure safety and operational efficiency.
Perform and oversee mechanical design tasks including equipment sizing, piping specifications, and hydraulic/stress calculations.
Develop and review technical documentation such as equipment specifications, data sheets, and vendor packages; support procurement with material take-offs and technical evaluations.
Review vendor data and ensure compliance with design requirements and project standards.
Collaborate in multi-discipline design reviews and squad checks to ensure integration across engineering disciplines.
Coordinate with the Project Manager to maintain project schedules, budgets, and scope alignment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college.
Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred; candidates without licensure should demonstrate a willingness to pursue it.
8-15 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably within the Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Chemical industries.
Strong understanding of engineering principles, design standards, and relevant codes (ASME, API, piping codes, PFDs, P&IDs).
Experience developing equipment specifications, performing design calculations, and reviewing vendor data.
Familiarity with engineering software and tools; proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
Prior experience with a consulting engineering firm is a plus.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
On-site role; candidates must be able to commute to The Woodlands, TX.
