What are the responsibilities and job description for the Real Estate Staff Accountant position at Hunt Consolidated?
Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant supports our real estate accounting and development team with duties including, but not limited to, journal entries, account reconciliations, cash applications, accounts receivable and payable management, and month-end close. This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities and provides regular interaction with various departments and all levels of management.
Responsibilities:
- Account reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, intercompany, etc.)
- Management of the real estate accounts payable and receivable functions
- Month-end close support, including cash applications and journal entries
- Uploading external trial balance and maintenance of mapping to accounts
- Assist with debt compliance reporting and construction draw preparation
- External audit support
- Ad-hoc analysis and special projects
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn accounting/ERP systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate confidently with leaders and teams across the organization
- Manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Proactive, initiative-taking and able to take ownership of responsibilities
Required Experience:
- Bachelors degree required, Accounting strongly preferred
- 3-5 years in an accounting role; background in real estate and/or joint venture accounting is beneficial
