What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager - East Coast position at Hunt Club?
The Role
This is a SuperIC seat. You own a market and a portfolio of PE/VC-backed clients, working end-to-end directly with founders, investors, GPs, and CxOs at dinners, events, and conferences. Close business, build the book, run the relationships. No team to manage. Just your pipeline, your presence, and your results.
Hunt Club's GMs are the business leaders of their markets. The East Coast is one of our core territories, and we're hiring a GM to own it. Success is tied to revenue and to delivering a consistent, value-led client experience, the kind that turns a single search into a five-year relationship.
About Hunt Club
Hunt Club is the executive search partner for high-growth VC and PE-backed companies who need access to leaders traditional firms can't reach. We find your next hire through the people they already trust, combining our Expert Network of 30,000 industry experts with proprietary search technology to surface the right leaders and reach them faster than traditional search. Companies like Gopuff, G2, Databricks, and Upwork have used us to build and scale their teams. Funds like a16z, Permira, Vista, and Bain Capital rely on us to deliver a best-in-class experience for their portcos.
We offer two core services: Executive Search — Partners and specialized teams hiring C-level and executive leaders — and Team Build-Out — partnering with functional leaders to hire Director, Manager, and senior IC talent.
What You'll Do
- Own the East Coast market - identify and acquire new clients, expand existing relationships, and carry quota.
- Generate your own pipeline through your personal and professional network of founders, investors, hiring managers, board members, and executives, plus established and new channels.
- Run the end-to-end sale of search offerings to prospects and existing customers - individual companies, VC and PE firms, portcos.
- Upsell existing customers across functions and search types.
- Partner with our Executive Search Leaders to create leverage on business development and deal conversion.
- Bridge Partnerships and Search at kickoff, bringing the insight needed to set up a successful search outcome.
- Show up - attend industry events, host dinners, partner with Marketing on live and virtual programs that activate your network and drive new business in the market.
Who You Are
- 10–15 years of consultative sales experience - growth-stage companies, or proven success at larger enterprises and comfort with ambiguity.
- Strong familiarity with the PE/VC landscape and a robust network of local contacts in your market.
- A track record of hitting annual quota. Growth mindset. Hands-on with every part of the sale.
- Naturally relationship-driven but competitive as hell. Energy comes from being in the room, not behind a screen.
- Excellent communicator. Builds strong internal relationships and works well across stakeholders at every level.
- Professional services experience preferred. SaaS experience welcome - particularly five-figure ASPs and high-velocity sales environments.
This Role Is Not For You If
- You need three direct reports to get anything done.
- You think hustle is sending five emails a day.
- You'd rather manage a team than do the work yourself.
Our Values
Always Care. We Take Pride In Our Work. We Ask “Why.” We Elevate Others. We Figure It Out Together. We Do What's Right. Culture matters here. We're looking for someone who adds to it.
