Operations Coordinator

Hunger Network, a non-profit organization which envisions that no one goes hungry and no food goes to waste seeks a full-time Operations Coordinator. Hunger Network is the largest grassroots food relief and recovery organization in Cuyahoga County that focuses on minimizing food waste and fighting food inequity and injustice by maximizing our community’s access to culturally relevant, nutritious foods.

Our programming includes coordination of a consortium of 79 hunger centers that are strategically placed across the county which provide food supplies, hygiene items, and hot meals to our neighbors who need it most. In addition to bridging the gap between hunger and food waste through the innovative Food Rescue Hero app—which operates via a direct transfer model to ensure fresh food is delivered daily into local neighborhoods—we also operate a food rescue kitchen modeled after successful programs like La Soupe in Cincinnati. This kitchen transforms rescued ingredients into nutritious, ready-to-eat meals, augmenting our impact by reducing waste and feeding more neighbors in need.

Position Summary

The Operations Coordinator ensures the smooth, daily execution of Hunger Network’s Food Rescue program. This role oversees dispatch operations, resolves real-time issues, and manages pop-up donations. Success requires strong technical skills, problem-solving ability, and a passion for sustainability and community service. This position reports directly to the Food Rescue Program Director.

Dispatch Operations

· Manage dispatch Monday–Friday and 1–2 weekends per month.

· Coordinate with donors, recipients, and volunteers to resolve real-time rescue issues using Dialpad.

· Monitor and master all functions of the Food Rescue Hero web and mobile apps.

· Track volunteer feedback and report to the Volunteer and Community Outreach Manager.

· Document donor and recipient issues for the Partnerships Manager.

· Share daily dispatch reports and maintain accurate logs.

· Ensure rescue coverage and communication for upcoming operations.

Program Operations

· Maintain accurate Food Rescue Hero app data.

· Schedule pop-up donations in collaboration with the Partnerships Manager.

· Verify accuracy of dispatch technology and program documents.

· Complete food rescues as needed.

General Responsibilities

· Collaborate with Program Director and Partnerships Manager to grow the program. · Analyze performance data to identify trends and improve processes.· Coordinate with HR on home delivery programs using the Food Rescue web app · Attend community meetings as needed. · Assist with special events, campaigns, and internal meetings. · Support Food Rescue Hero engagement and appreciation events· Assist with Food Rescue Kitchen logistics and operations Qualifications and Skills Required

· Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.

· 2–3 years of customer service experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment.

· Current ServSafe Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).

· Strong technical proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive; experience with database management is a plus.

· Highly adaptable with excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in dynamic settings.

· Exceptional oral and written communication skills

Qualifications and Skills Preferred

· Ability to safely operate a non-CDL single-axle 26-foot refrigerated box truck and extended van.

Other

· Availability for occasional weekend and evening hours. · Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance.· Ability to lift and move items over 30 pounds and perform physical tasks such as loading food boxes.· Successful completion of a background check.
