This position reports to: Operations Manager
Employee Status: Non-exempt part-time hourly position (16 hours)
Morning shift 6:30a - 2:30p, includes BOTH weekend days each week and holidays (2x pay) that fall during regular scheduled days. Option to pick-up one or two weekday shifts also available (up to 32 hours)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Weekend Food Service Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Kitchen and volunteers to prepare and serve Breakfast and Lunch meals. This individual must be able to manage other people and will work closely with our Volunteer Coordinator to ensure appropriate volunteer responsibilities are available and supported. Weekend meals include a continental style breakfast and lunches pre-prepared by volunteers (or served at Salvation Army on most Saturdays). Preparing for weekend dinner volunteers and ensuring the space is maintained in a food-safe and cleanly manner are also expected.
Hundred Nights provides ServSafe Training.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist with food preparation and serving:
- Set-out Breakfast items for continental style meals (weekend and weekdays when Hot Breakfast Program is not active) or assist Hot Breakfast Volunteers with their needs
- Support volunteers and guests in serving meals during shift
- Support volunteers and guests in clean-up post meal including cleaning dishes and kitchen after meals
2. Support food-safety and volunteer relations:
- Ensure all volunteers are maintaining food safety precautions when in kitchen and food preparation space
- Work with volunteer coordinator to support ALL external and guest volunteers who are interested in working in the kitchen space
- Work with Operations Manager to ensure adequate inventory of food and kitchen supplies, as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Desire to make a difference in the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors during this time of uncertainty and beyond
- High level of empathy and understanding for people experiencing homelessness and presenting with multiple and urgent case management needs, substance use, health, and/or mental health concerns
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic work environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work as a team member with minimal supervision
- Solid written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent phone manner
- Ability to confidently and calmly handle any emergencies or mitigate/diffuse any situations that may arise with guests or volunteers during your shift
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Nonprofit, customer service, shelter or security work experience or volunteering and community service experience a plus but not required
- Experience with database management a plus
- Interest in and commitment to Hundred Nights mission
The position entails interaction and communication with staff, guests and occasionally members of the community. The position requires the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
