Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by checking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; observe and report any changes or concerns
- Administer medication following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care, creating a safe and calming environment
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control standards are met
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely to assist with mobility and prevent injury during transfers
- Document care activities accurately in accordance with care plans and organizational policies
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive atmosphere for residents or clients
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs effectively
- Certification in CPR and First Aid required; additional training in hospice or dementia care is a plus
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when required; experience using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts is advantageous
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work compassionately with individuals with developmental disabilities, or memory impairments
