Manager of Behavioral Health

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Establishes standards of nursing for the unit, applying evidence-based standards and health care research.
2. Plans, organizes, and directs health services for an assigned unit and insures that goals, objectives and work performed are consistent with standards and that quality care is provided to patients and families. Communicates with all staff members and provides feedback on a regular basis.
3. Selects, mentors, motivates and directs development and evaluation of staff. Establishes and tracks quality improvement indicators and other information concerning services and care to insure that resources are available to provide quality services and on-time performance consistent with standards.
4. Participates, consults and collaborates in the development of long range plans for unit. Interprets and communicates departmental policies and procedures.  Establishes areas of responsibility and assignment.  Develops or implements policies and procedures to insure efficient and effective delivery of health services.
5. Receives, analyzes, and evaluates reports and other information and coordinates quality improvement activities concerning the care of patients, equipment, environmental health and safety conditions, and other related services in improving the quality and utilization of health care.
6. Manages budget estimates and other information concerning financial requirements. Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases and other actions to insure compliance with budget guidelines and effective delivery of services.
7. Coordinates and develops on-going activities to monitor nursing compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
8. Works collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary care team to provide holistic care.

Department Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Collaborates with educators regarding staff development needs
2. Collaborates in projects or problem-solving with Pharmacy, Lab, Case Management, Risk Management, Regulatory, Compliance, and Quality departments.

Other Responsibilities:

1. Adheres to downtime procedures.
2. Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
3. Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner as identified by Humboldt Park Health.
4. Demonstrates an understanding of and models the mission and core values of Humboldt Park Health.
5. Enhances professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.
6. Checks hospital email daily.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.
