What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle/High School Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor position at Humboldt High School?
Humboldt Community School District is seeking a dynamic Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor to serve students at Humboldt Middle School and Humboldt High School beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. This position offers an excellent opportunity to lead a well-supported agricultural education program in a community that values agriculture, student leadership, and hands-on learning.
The ideal candidate will foster a positive classroom environment, build strong relationships with students, and collaborate with community partners to provide meaningful, real-world agricultural experiences. The successful candidate will also serve as the FFA Advisor, supporting student leadership development, career readiness, and participation in local, district, state, and national FFA opportunities.
Courses that have previously been taught include: Intro to Agriculture I and II, Plant Science, Animal Science I and II, Horticulture, Ag Business, Power and Ag Tech, and Middle School Ag Exploratory. Additional and future course offerings can be developed based on teacher expertise and student interest. The district is committed to supporting innovation and program growth.
Qualifications
- Valid Iowa teaching license with appropriate 5-12 Agriculture endorsement (or ability to obtain) and/or CTE Agriculture Authorization (or ability to obtain)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Passion for agricultural education and student leadership development
- Willingness to advise FFA and support student activities
- Commitment to creating a positive, inclusive learning environment
