What are the responsibilities and job description for the HCSD Substitute Health Assistant position at Humboldt County School District?
Job Details:
- On-call, as needed to provide coverage when the regular health assistant is absent
- Hours and location may vary depending on assignment
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma (prefer EMT/CNA/RN certification)
- Current CPR/AED certification and standard first aid card required
- Knowledge of student behavior and characteristics, and basic office methods and computer skills
- Ability to keep accurate records and files
- Professional telephone etiquette
- Ability to provide CPR/AED or first aid to injured or ill students and staff
- Ability to deal tactfully and compassionately with staff, students, and parents regarding health-related issues
- Ability to follow laws, rules, and Humboldt County School District policies and procedures
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, and establish effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents
- May require assisting students with toileting needs and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Responsibilities:
- Provide health office coverage in the absence of the regular health assistant
- Administer first aid and emergency care for students and staff
- Document student visits, treatments, and communications with parents/guardians
- Maintain confidentiality of student health records and information
- Support the health needs of students as directed by the school nurse or administrator
- Perform clerical duties related to health services as needed
- Adapt to different school sites, routines, and needs as assignments change
- Assist with other duties as assigned
