What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deckhand position at Humboldt Bay Harbor Cruise?
The Harbor Cruise Boat Madaket is looking for a safety minded, customer service orientated person with a can-do attitude to join the deckhand team in serving our locals and tourists for the 2024 cruise season. Seasonal Position current to October 15th.
Responsibilities Include: All onboard guest services including embarking and disembarking customers, tying and untying the vessel, making and serving beverages, ensuring passenger safety aboard the vessel during cruises and keeping the vessel clean. This is a fun and active position that requires you to be on your feet most of the time while attending to customers’ needs before, during and after cruises.
Position Requirements
- 100% Drug Free- no State legalized drugs (Fed. Law)
- Pre-employment Drug Testing (Fed. Law)
- CPR/First Aid certification-we provide after 2 week period (Fed. Law)
- Random Drug Testing - duration of employment (Fed. Law)
- Bar tending experience-will train
- Money handling/POS experience
- Able to perform physical tasks which includes lifting up to 50lbs, continuous walking and/or standing, transit stairs multiple times per shift and tolerate exposure to all types of weather
- Willing to work extra hours/days, or as a fill in, which includes evenings, mornings, weekends and all holidays
- 21 years of age or older (Fed. Law)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in safe boarding and disembarking of passengers, includes passenger counting
- Handle mooring lines when docking the vessel
- Maintain daily pre and post cruise inventory
- Understand/Learn procedures for Man Overboard, Fire at Sea and Abandon Ship
- Participate in USCG required training drills
- Ensure proper setup for each cruise
- Deep cleaning of the vessel and its equipment
- Act as lookout during inclement weather
- Tend bar and serve drinks
- POS use and handling money
Available Position Hours and Days
Three to Five days per week. The schedule below is a set schedule for the open positions, it does not include extra cruises that may be available in the future due to added private charters or special event cruises. Priority will be given to applicants who have ability to work these hours and additional hours/days if required by the trends of our business.
Sunday 10:00 am to 5:45 pm
Monday 12:00 to 5:45 pm
Tuesday 12:00 to 7:00 pm
Wednesday 12:00 to 7:00 pm
Thursday 12:00 to 7:00 pm
Friday 12:00 to 7:00 pm
Saturday 12:00 to 7:00 pm
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
