About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturing company, is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive, and analytical orocurement specialist to join their team.
In this role, you will be the key operational link in managing inventory flow, vendor relationships, and purchase order accuracy. Reporting directly to the Operations Lead, you will take ownership of maintaining balanced stock levels, monitoring international supply chain lead times, and driving inventory optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement & Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels for ~30 active SKUs, track replenishment needs, and manage consignment inventory with key vendors.
- Purchase Orders & Tracking: Issue, manage, and follow up on Purchase Orders (POs) for raw materials, components, and consumable supplies across departments. Ensure delivery dates and confirmations are constantly updated.
- Supplier Relationship & Performance: Maintain strong, professional relationships with international suppliers (including China) and conduct regular vendor scorecards.
- Inventory Accuracy & Analysis: Review aging or slow-moving inventory levels and implement corrective measures to avoid both stockouts and overstock conditions.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Plant Management, Production Scheduling, and Engineering to procure new product development items.
- System & Process Improvement: Rebuild and maintain custom inventory models/spreadsheets and leverage MRP/ERP capabilities (including emerging AI tools) to optimize procurement workflows.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 5 to 10 years of buying, purchasing, or procurement experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or assembly environment.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP replenishment systems
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to create, rebuild, and optimize inventory spreadsheets from scratch.
- Experience working with international supply chains (specifically sourcing/buying from Asia/China).
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong data accuracy, excellent written and verbal communication, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
- Interest in using modern software tools and exploring AI-assisted workflows to advance job efficiency.
