Thrift Store Donation Associate

Not your typical thrift store! With cats on site for adoption every day you're helping animals in need.

HSTC currently operates two resale stores in the Stuart area to support our mission of finding animals forever homes. Our stores operate 7-days per week and are staffed by paid staff and a great group of dedicated volunteers. See below for more information.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

· Responsible for store opening/closing duties including cash management as required.

· Accepts donations from customers and sorts according to store process and standards

· Consistently acts in a professional manner, mindful that donors often support our organization in ways other than at the thrift store.

- Participates in store maintenance including running floor cleaner, doing windows, and maintaining clean displays and work areas.

· Fosters a positive, productive, team-based environment and culture.

· Fulfills all other reasonable duties as requested which may include facilitating cat adoptions and pricing merchandise

- Heavy lifting is a requirement.

Education, Experience, Skills, & Requirements

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledgeable in a wide range and variety of consumer goods and brand names.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• A minimum of one year in a retail environment
• Advantage: Able to drive a box truck and move furniture

Must be able to:

• Work with, and communicate effectively across a wide diversity of people and levels
• Establish and manage multiple priorities.
• Organize a large quantity and variety of goods and materials.
• Demonstrate tact and diplomacy with co-workers, volunteers, customers, and donors.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

Sit, stand, walk, push, pull, and lift up to 60 lbs. May lift heavier items with assistance.

HEAVY LIFTING IS A SIGNIFICANT PART OF THIS POSITION.

Hours include 1 weekend day, 1 weekday 10:30-7pm.
