Full-Time Animal Care Technician
Location: Parkersburg, WV
Are you passionate about animal welfare and looking for a hands-on role where you can make a real impact? The Humane Society of Parkersburg (HSOP) is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and reliable full-time Animal Care Technician to join our hardworking team.
As an Animal Care Technician, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and overall well-being of the animals in our care. Your daily efforts will directly contribute to helping animals find their forever homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and other animal areas
- Administer medications and vaccinations under supervision
- Monitor animal behavior and assist in basic behavior training
- Work with potential adopters and support the adoption process
- Proactively engage with animals to increase their adoptability
- Assist with daily shelter operations; cross-training in other departments is provided
- Support the mission and values of HSOP in all interactions
What We’re Looking For:
- Prior experience with animals is preferred
- Comfortable handling animals of all sizes and temperaments
- Physically able to lift 50 pounds and safely restrain large animals (up to 100 pounds)
- Organized, dependable, and self-motivated
- Strong team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
- Must be able to work flexible hours:
Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM
Weekend availability is also required

- Job Type: Full-time
- Starting Pay: $12/hour
