This position is the “face of the Humane Society” and provides the opportunity to help shape the direction of our organization by being part of the leadership team. Your knowledge, time management skills and spirit of teamwork are what will make you successful in this position. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors and is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. The success of this position includes the willingness to work evenings, weekends, and respond to emergencies.
Who We Are
For over 50 years, the Calloway County Humane Society has advocated for the humane treatment of animals which includes our expanding foster program, adoption assistance, fixed for life program, vouchers and a strong Board of Directors. Volunteer assistance is the heart of this organization and with the leadership of the Executive Director and Board of Directors, helps to ensure that Calloway County animals are provided with the care they deserve. The mission of the Humane Society of Calloway County is to unite animals and people in the community, to enrich their lives, and to advocate compassion and kindness toward animals and people everywhere.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work with the Board of Directors to carry out our mission, providing strategic planning to ensure financial stability
- Represent our organization publicly and build effective community partnerships
- Implement excellent customer services skills by providing a welcoming environment
- Engage our volunteers, members and partners in the education of humane animal care
- Ensure effective communication at all levels of the organization
- Ability to make sound financial decisions and drive continuous improvement
- Operational management resulting in an increase in our volunteer and member base
Qualifications:
- At least two years of proven leadership and personnel management experience
- Proficient in the use of current software programs and virtual platforms
- An attitude of cooperation and a dedication to teamwork
- Self-management, time management, and people skills is a priority requirement
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency in writing, editing and compiling reports
Preferred Skills:
- At a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Proven track record of people skills that include encouragement, active listening, and mutual trust
- Proven success working with nonprofit organizations which includes: a clear mission, strong community relationships, and financial stability
- Effective grant writing and fundraising skills
- Ability to apply new technologies to our operations to improve efficiency
- Sales/marketing proven record
