Responsibilities

  • Set annual fundraising goals in partnership with the CEO and CFO, and report regularly against key performance metrics
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major donors and prospects, including direct one-on-one engagement
  • Own donor, sponsor, and event data, including the organization's donor database (CRM), ensuring accurate gift processing, acknowledgment, and reporting, and setting consistent procedures across all MMA events for capturing attendee, sponsor, and donor information
  • Assess the current fundraising program and infrastructure within the first 90 days and recommend changes based on MMA's size and capacity, using peer benchmarks adjusted for scale
  • Report to the CEO and Board using verified data, and monitor revenue concentration to build a more diversified funding base
  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, including foundation and government grant prospects, in coordination with program leadership

Marketing & Communications

  • Develop and execute a marketing and communications strategy that builds public awareness of MMA's mission, programs, and impact
  • Oversee content and messaging across MMA's website, social media and press/media relations
  • Ensure consistent branding and voice across all donor-facing and public communications
  • Partner with program staff to source and share stories that authentically represent participants and families served by MMA
  • Partner with Program Directors to create marketing campaign strategy, marketing materials and messaging for MMA programs

Program Marketing Support (All MMA Programs)

  • Set marketing support priorities with the CEO and Program Directors, balancing requests from across MMA programs against Development and Marketing capacity
  • Develop marketing plans for programs that grow through referrals and direct enrollment, such as Adult Foster Care and TimberNook, defining target audiences, referral sources, positioning, and messaging in partnership with each Program Director
  • Produce the marketing materials program staff need to generate inquiries and referrals, including: brochures, one-pagers, digital ad creative, landing pages, email sequences, referral-partner materials, and social content
  • Build and maintain a marketing toolkit and template library so program staff can carry out local outreach without requesting custom materials each time
  • Build program marketing capability across MMA by coaching Program Directors, senior leaders, and their teams

Program Directors retain ownership of enrollment targets; the Director is accountable for the effectiveness of marketing support
  • Maintain a consistent visual and messaging identity across program marketing and donor-facing communications, adapted to each audience

Board & Committee Engagement

  • Serve as primary staff liaison to the Development Committee: setting agendas, preparing materials, coordinating meetings, and turning committee ideas and input into strategy in light of MMA's priorities, data, and capacity
  • Partner with the CEO and Board on donor cultivation strategy, including board member engagement in fundraising

  • Work with the CEO and Board Chair to maintain a written charter defining the roles of the committee, the Board, and staff
  • Coordinate Board members' community outreach so it aligns with MMA's fundraising and
  • communications strategy

Event Leadership

  • Build and staff event host committees, working closely with board members and community volunteers
  • Ensure events meet or exceed revenue and engagement targets while reflecting MMA's mission and values
  • Evaluate each event annually on return on investment, including net revenue, cost per dollar raised, attendance trends, and donor or underwriter concentration, and recommend whether to continue, change, or retire it
  • Review community-hosted and third-party events that request MMA resources against staff capacity and event priorities, and coordinate any commitments with the appropriate staff in advance

  • Directly supervise and mentor the Manager of Development and Marketing, providing coaching, goal-setting, and performance management
  • Build organizational capacity in development and marketing functions, including: onboarding future team members as the department grows
  • Develop the program marketing skills of marketing/development staff, using external resources as appropriate.
