Position Summary:

The Board Relations Temp will work with the Board Relations staff under the direction of the Director of Board Relations & Executive Operations, facilitating the logistics of HRC’s annual Equality Convention. The Board Relations Temp must be proactive, detail-oriented, with database experience and/or demonstrated aptitude to handle a multitude of details simultaneously. Experience working event registration is also a plus. 

 

This is a four week position beginning on September 8, 2026 and ending October 2, 2026. The position is based in-person at HRC headquarters in Washington, DC.  The job requires 11-13 hour in-person workdays on September 24th, 25th, and 26th. On-site accommodations may be provided at the convention host hotel from September 24-27, if needed. 

 

Position Responsibilities:

Participate as an integral part of the Board relations and Equality in Action program, with responsibilities including:

  •      Assist with communication to event attendees.
  •      Confirm special needs and food allergies with event attendees.
  •      Manage guest rooms at the conference hotel.
  •      Update and manage integrity of data entered into board data systems.
  •      Track registration, providing updated registration information when needed.
  •      Confirm final event registrations.
  •      Order administrative and program supplies.
  •      Print materials.
  •      Create registration packets.
  •      Create Convention materials such as name badges, table tents and signage.
  •      Oversee shipping to and from the hotel.
  •      Manage registration and lead day of registration staff.
  •      Book dinner reservations.
  •      Ensure all receipts and invoices are turned in prior to the final day.
  •      Other duties as assigned.

 

Position Qualifications:

  •      One to three years of successful administrative or program support
  •      Exemplary time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
  •      Meticulous attention to detail.
  •      Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, high-stakes event environment with a strong sense of urgency.
  •      Professional & responsible manner.
  •      Basic proficiency in Zoom, Excel and Google Drive.
  •      Personal interest in and commitment to LGBTQ rights are desirable to engage with constituents.

 

All positions at the Human Rights Campaign and/or the Human Rights Campaign Foundation may require travel on a regular basis or periodically.  Where the need arises for business travel, appropriate compensation as outlined by the Fair Labor Standards Act will apply.
