What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information and Referral Specialist position at HUMAN OPTIONS INC?
Summary
Under the supervision of the Community Based Services Supervisor, the Information and Resource (I&R) Specialist provides and assists with registrations, information, linkages, and referrals to individuals and families seeking services pertaining to basic needs, mental health, case management, housing, etc. The Information and Referral Specialist is also responsible for data entry and outreach.
We are looking for two (2) I&Rs:
- One (1) regular, full time
- One (1) temporary, full time
Duties and Responsibilities

Support the Community Based Services Action Plan by meeting program outcomes and grant deliverables.

Respond to walk-ins, call-ins, emails, and referred clients seeking community resources.

Facilitate connections between clients and service providers, ensuring seamless referrals and follow-ups.

Organize and distribute emergency assistance supplies; receive and sort public donations to the community-based sites.

Screen and assess clients’ needs and provide appropriate resources and referrals.

Contact, screen, register, and guide clients with the registration process and forms required for services and resources.

High School diploma or commensurate work experience.

Proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.

Adaptability and flexibility while working in a dynamic work environment.

Knowledge of domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse issues.

Proficient in database management, referral tracking, and precise documentation.

Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects efficiently, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines.

Take initiative, multitask under pressure, and work independently.
