Summary

Under the direction of the Senior Development Director, the Community Engagement Coordinator serves as the primary lead on Human Options’ volunteer and community engagement program, Humanity in Action. The Community Engagement Coordinator connects individuals, corporations, community groups, and faith-based communities  to meaningful opportunities that advance our mission and meet survivor needs through volunteering, donating, and contributing in-kind gifts .In addition to prospecting and cultivating new volunteers and partners, the Community Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in establishing a volunteer-to-donor pipeline to prospect new donors for relationship managers on the Fund Development Team. 

The position is responsible for deepening and expanding our volunteer and revenue-generating partnership base by coordinating volunteer, corporate, and community engagement activities, maintaining a calendar of seasonal and year-round opportunities, engaging volunteers, companies, and groups in signature and special events and sponsorships, and maintaining an active and consistent presence in the community. The Community Engagement Coordinator will also support the execution of social media, marketing, and communications strategy to reach and engage our supporters and partners. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Volunteer, Corporate, and Community Engagement 

  • Manage Humanity in Action volunteer and community engagement program to connect individuals, corporations, faith-based organizations, and community groups to meaningful volunteer opportunities and experiences that advance our mission and meet survivor needs.
  • Generate revenue and resources by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting both monetary and in-kind donations resulting from partnerships with volunteers, corporations, community groups, and faith-based organizations. 
  • Serve as primary contact for volunteers and in-kind donations, as well as manage a portfolio of volunteers and donors. 
  • Coordinate and maintain calendar of seasonal and year-round volunteer and engagement opportunities, and work with individuals, corporations, and groups to match-make between their engagement goals and talents with Human Options’ needs and mission. 
  • Host tours of residential and walk-in center sites for volunteers and supporters, as needed. 
  • Convert volunteers to donors through targeted engagement strategies and personalized communication. 
  • Present on ways to get involved with Human Options to various volunteer groups, corporations, community groups, and faith-based groups to generate funds, increase attendance, and/or increase membership. 
  • Manage outreach activities to individuals, corporations, community groups, faith-based organizations, and current and potential partners to broaden our volunteer base. 
  • Collaborate with Program Leadership to continuously understand and identify current organizational and client needs. Work with Senior Development Director and Program Leadership to generate engagement strategies to meet those needs through volunteering and in-kind donations. 

Prospect Management & Lead Generation  

  • Collaborate with relationship managers on the Fund Development Team to facilitate a volunteer-to-donor pipeline.
  • Support relationship managers in cultivating and stewarding prospective and active donors through volunteer and community engagement opportunities. 
  • Participate in related community activities to increase the organization’s community presence and build a pipeline of new volunteers and supporters. 
  • Lead the collaboration with the Prevention Educators and Program Supervisors on potential donor prospects within current community partnerships. 
  • Identify opportunities, and execute strategies for engaging new corporate, community groups, and faith-based organization relationships. 

Project Coordination – Special Events 

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute Humanity in Action events and in alignment with Human Options’ Strategic Priorities.
  • Collaborate with Development Operations Coordinator to lead special events that engage volunteers, corporations, community groups, and faith-based groups in peer-to-peer fundraising, in-kind donations, volunteering, and overall event participation. 
  • Support the Senior Development Director and Strategic Giving Manager with fundraising and execution of Serious Fun, Fall Luncheon, and Annual Meeting. 
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit sponsorships from corporations, community groups, and faith-based organizations.  
  • Support in prospecting, cultivating, and securing event Committee Members. 
  • Support in prospecting, cultivating, and soliciting auction items from volunteers, corporations, community groups, and faith-based organizations. 
  • Secure volunteers and lead the staff and volunteers working at the event. 
  • Coordinate special events to engage new supporters and activate current supporters, including individuals, corporations, faith-based groups, and community groups. 

Social Media, Marketing, & Communications 

  • Support Senior Development Director in executing a marketing and social media calendar and strategy for Fund Development.
  • Work with Prevention Education Team to generate social media posts about volunteer groups, community engagement events, special events, and in-kind donation drives. 
  • Support Senior Development Director and Senior Prevention & Community Education Director in executing a marketing and communications strategy for our volunteer and community engagement program. 
  • Support with social media and marketing for events. 
  • Coordinate the calendar and execution of regular communications (targeted and broad) with supporters, partners, and volunteers. 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience required.
  • Experience in project management. 
  • Experience coordinating events. 
  • Experience generating revenue from businesses, groups, and individuals. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Excellent time management skills, multi-tasking abilities, team playing skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism. 
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • Ability to travel to various locations within Orange County, attend events on evenings and weekends, as needed. 
  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge (or similar CRM) and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, as well as working knowledge of computer database program entry and report generation. 
  • Complete the 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate certification training post offer.
