Early Head Start Family Educator – Huron/Sanilac
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree in child development, early childhood education, social work, family services, or another related field OR an Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) is required. If candidate has an Associate’s Degree (or equivalent), they must be able to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree within three years of hire.
2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with service organizations, parents, and children from birth to three years. As well as travel to, and conduct, regular home visits.
3. Must possess ability to physically perform job assignments, including, but not limited to, lifting and carrying children up to 40 pounds, sitting and moving around at child level, climbing stairs, etc.
4. Must maintain a valid driver’s license, possess reliable transportation, and have ability to travel throughout the service area.
5. Following hire, a chauffeur’s license must be obtained to transport passengers.
6. Following hire, a ServSafe credential must be obtained to ensure food safety.
7. Awareness of and sensitivity to the special problems of low-income families.
8. Must provide proof of freedom from communicable tuberculosis.
9. Must provide initial health examination to assure that they do not pose a significant health risk to health and safety of others in the program that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation.
10. Must pass and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
11. Sympathetic to the goals of a Community Action Agency.
12. Must successfully pass all agency-required background checks.
WAGE
$24.00/hour plus fringe benefits

WORK LOCATION
Base location in Bad Axe
WORK SCHEDULE
Mondays – Wednesdays, 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Flexibility in schedule will be required.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide program planning and implementation of scheduled activities for infants and toddlers in both home-based and group socialization activities.
2. Provide parent involvement, including all program component areas, including home visits and transition to next program.
3. Supervise daily activities of children to address all areas of school readiness, including language, cognitive, physical, social, and emotional.
4. Plan and set goals with families related to Family Engagement Outcomes, including self-sufficiency, parenting, etc. Coordinate family development activities such as employability skills, educational pursuits, employment opportunities, childcare, and transportation. Generate referrals as needed.
5. Ensure that children receive well-child exams and other health requirements and special needs services as expected for their age and developmental level.
