What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Human Capital Solutions, Inc.?
Human Capital Solutions has been retained by our client, a privately held senior living and skilled nursing operator in southeastern North Carolina, to identify their next Controller.
Our client manages six communities — three skilled nursing facilities and three assisted living and memory care communities. They are locally owned, and their focus in recent years has been on operational consistency and strong performance at each community. With continued growth in the complexity of the business, they are seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function.
Responsibilities
- Monthly close and consolidated financial statements across all entities
- Financial reporting to ownership and, periodically, to lenders and partners
- Oversight of payroll and accounts payable, with a portion of data entry handled at the facility level
- Revenue cycle oversight across a mixed payor environment — Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance at the skilled nursing communities, and private pay at one assisted living community
- Compiling and organizing data in support of annual Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting, which is prepared by outside accountants
- Refining accounting processes, internal controls, and close timelines
Qualifications
- 7 years of progressive accounting leadership, including experience in a multi-entity environment
- Healthcare experience preferred — skilled nursing, assisted living, or senior living. Familiarity with Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement is an advantage
- Experience consolidating multiple entities and legal structures
- PointClickCare experience is a plus; it is used across the portfolio
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
About the opportunity
- This is an established role within a stable, privately held organization. Two of our client's principals have backgrounds in accounting and healthcare cost reporting and are actively involved, offering both technical support and collaboration.
