CNC Machinist III (Day Shift)

Location: Newark, CA
Shift: Monday – Friday | 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Pay: $29.00 – $42.00/hour (DOE)

About the Opportunity

Join a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer where precision matters. As a CNC Machinist III, you'll be responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC machining centers to manufacture high-precision components. This is a senior-level role ideal for experienced machinists who enjoy solving complex machining challenges, mentoring others, and producing quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes using approved CNC programs.
• Perform complete machine setups including fixtures, tooling, work offsets, and datum alignment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and setup documentation.
• Inspect first articles and finished parts using precision measuring equipment.
• Make tooling, fixture, and offset adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and setup issues independently.
• Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes.
• Complete production documentation accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Mentor and assist CNC Machinist I and II team members with setups and best machining practices.
• Work closely with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve production issues.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 5 years of CNC machining experience performing machine setup and operation.
• Experience with vertical and/or horizontal machining centers.
• Ability to independently perform complete machine setups.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation.
• Experience using:
• • Micrometers
  • Calipers
  • Height gauges
  • Dial indicators
• Ability to hold tight tolerances and produce high-quality precision components.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in an AS9100 or aerospace manufacturing environment is highly preferred.

Preferred Skills

• Multi-axis machining experience.
• Tooling optimization and fixture setup.
• Root cause analysis.
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
• Ability to mentor junior machinists.
• Strong communication and teamwork.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand and walk throughout the shift.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work around moving machinery, cutting tools, coolant, and metal chips.
• Wear required PPE at all times.
