Job Overview
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Hulse Construction's comprehensive safety program across all projects. This individual will ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and client-specific safety requirements while promoting a proactive safety culture that protects our employees, subcontractors, and customers.

This position requires a hands-on leader who can build relationships with field personnel, conduct training, perform site inspections, investigate incidents, and work collaboratively with project managers and superintendents to reduce risk and improve safety performance.

Duties

  • Develop, implement, and maintain company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Conduct routine and unannounced jobsite safety inspections and audits.
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective measures.
  • Develop and deliver company-wide safety training programs.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientation and ongoing employee training.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and required safety documentation.
  • Manage workers' compensation claims in coordination with Human Resources and insurance providers.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety compliance.
  • Review project-specific safety plans and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Partner with project management teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  • Track safety metrics, inspections, near misses, and incident trends.
  • Maintain required certifications, training records, and compliance documentation.
  • Build and promote a positive, accountable safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Represent the company during OSHA inspections and client safety audits.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-10 years of construction safety experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in a safety leadership or management role.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926).
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.
  • OSHA 510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, OST/Quick Bid and Plexxis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 500 Construction Trainer Certification.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
