Agriculture Education Teacher  

 

SUMMARY

The Agriculture Education Teacher is responsible for the education of agriculture, with an emphasis on Ag Mechanics and Animal Science for students. Successful applicant will have knowledge of career development events, and supervision of ag experience projects.  Experience in welding and ag projects required.  In addition, candidate must be willing to sponsor active FFA chapter and will supervise summer FFA projects and events.  Extra duty contracts will be awarded for these activities.  Coaching abilities preferred, but not mandatory.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Agriculture Education Teacher reports to the Principal.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Conduct an instructional program educates students about career pathways in agriculture that can be used as a guide to achieving necessary skills for continued education and employment which includes preparing materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
    2. Enhance youth leadership and FFA as an integral part of instruction.
    3. Provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete in a global economy.
    4. Remain abreast and Inform students about agriculture and agricultural literacy.
    5. Create lesson plans that are in conformity with the Crook County School District #1 policies, for all courses offered and provide instructional materials and instructional methods used to make teaching and learning effective.
    6. Supervise and maintain the Ag barn used for students supervised agricultural experience.
    7. Prepare and submit FFA rosters, entries, registrations, etc. required by the local, district, area, state, and office promptly, and keep an accurate file copy of all records and reports.

 

  • Supervise and assist students in preparing projects for county and state fair.

 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  1. Three (3) to five (5) years of classroom teaching experience preferred
  2. Bachelor’s Degree
  3. Demonstrated Competency in Agricultural Science and Metal Fabrication.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  1. Valid Wyoming PTSB Teaching Certification required.
  2. Valid Driver License and clear driving record required.

Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals, standard instructional equipment; agricultural equipment, extensive metal shop equipment, and various livestock show equipment.

 

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting 

 

Motion: Frequent walking; repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; overhead reaching 

 

Lifting: Frequent heavy lifting (45 pounds and over); may lift and move agriculture equipment and animals 

 

Environment: Work outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures (hot, cold, and inclement weather), humidity, and prolonged sunlight; exposure to biological hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; work around moving objects or vehicles; work on uneven or slippery surfaces; work around animals; may work alone; frequent district wide and statewide travel.
