Job Title: Solutions Architect 4

Duration: 12 months, with possible extensions

Location: Los Alamos, NM

Summary:

The Solutions Architect serves as principal architect of large and complex hardware, software, database, networking, and/or telecommunication solutions. This role determines Laboratory-wide requirements and incorporates them into solutions that may be commercial-off-the-shelf (Oracle P6, PIF, WebLogic) or internally developed software and hardware, and may include project management responsibility for implementing complex solutions, including oversight of documentation, marketing, training, budget, schedules, resource utilization, and benefits realization.

The individual in this role must have broad expertise or unique knowledge, and use that expertise to contribute to the development of objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. This person develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories; is viewed as an expert in the field within the Laboratory; and works on unusually significant, unique, or complex issues, providing solutions that are highly creative and require evaluation of intangible factors. This role has impact on the success of future concepts, products, or technologies, works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets, and is largely self-initiated and self-supervisory, using independent judgment and wide latitude in methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to obtain results.

The individual selected for this position must be able to obtain a Q clearance.

Job Duties:

• Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. • Adheres to policies, programs, procedures and practices.
• Researches, assembles, and/or evaluates information or data regarding industry practices or applicable regulatory changes affecting telecommunication, data management, security, networking, hardware, software development and systems programming policies or programs; recommends sound, practical solutions to complex issues.
• Leads complex projects that require in-depth analysis, gathering of customer requirements, and cross-discipline solution sets.
• Researches solutions for complex problems that span multiple disciplines, including hardware, software development, systems programming, data management, security, networking, telecommunications, or related disciplines.
• Provides technical leadership and architectural direction for complex systems.
• Integrates strategic thinking in the formulation of solutions and capabilities to ensure that long-term business objectives and impact are factored into the design process.
• Formally manages projects from inception through implementation, including project management, documentation, and training of users, system administrators, or others who may maintain or use the end products.
• Fosters a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

Required Qualifications:

• Expert knowledge and demonstrated application of current and future network, data management, security, hardware, software development, and systems programming technologies, how they interoperate, how to architect complex solutions, and enterprise web application delivery.
• Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational and project management skills.
• Demonstrated team-building experience with technologists.
• Expert knowledge in SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS implementation, administration, maintenance, and end-user support.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle WebLogic for web applications.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management.
• Expert level knowledge of Oracle Project Integration Framework (PIF).
• Experience maintaining environments for integration of project controls skills: estimating, schedules, and costs.

Education:

Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Post-graduate coursework and/or professional certification(s) and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be expected.
