This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as; blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Job requirements: must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. Receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Directs incoming and outgoing aircraft near terminal or flight line parking area, and assists pilot's maneuvering of the aircraft on ground, using hand or light signals.
· Service aircraft to replenish fuel, oil, water, and waste system chemicals
· Drives light truck with guiding sign and secures aircraft in parking position with blocks, stakes, and tie downs
· Services oxygen and hydraulic fluid; remove waste.
· Documents aircraft maintenance records with description of the services performed.
· Checks for fuel contamination by draining sumps and fuel drains.
· Operates ground support equipment such as electrical power supply and engine starting units.
· Assists in jacking and towing aircraft.
· Position and remove boarding platforms to unload or load aircraft passengers.
· Unload and load luggage and cargo.
· Cleans exterior or interior of aircraft, using portable platform ladders, brushes, rags, water hose, and vacuum.
· De-ices aircraft wings and assemblies.
· Loads and unloads containers of food, beverages, and dishes for in-flight meal services.
· Keep a clean and orderly work environment.
· Adheres to the Quality Control Program in accordance with the contract.
· Adheres to the safety program IAW contract requirements; and federal, state, and local regulations.
· Adheres to standard work practices, safety, quality, equipment, vehicles, supplies, performance work statement, and company policies and procedures.
· Operate vehicle, property, equipment and supply programs.
· Adheres to Operations Security standard operating procedures.
· Complies with the Property Control Plan for management of Government Furnished Property.
· Adheres to the safety and health program that complies with applicable OSHA, DoD, Armed Forces, federal, state, and local safety, environmental, and health requirements.
· Other tasks as directed by the Project Manager/Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
· Valid Driver’s License.
· FAA Airframe and Powerplant license and/or DD Form 214 with similar military qualifications (required).
· Ability to complete and maintain certification to operate a vehicle on the airfield.
· Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
· Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
· Comply with the Drug-Free Workplace policy.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
· High school education or GED.
· Three (3) years’ relevant work experience in a multi-location environment.
· Strong ability to organize effectively and solve problems quickly.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands of this position require prolonged standing, walking, use of hands and fingers, reaching with arms, climbing and balancing.
· Ability to regularly lift 25-50 pounds and on occasion up to 100 pounds
· The work environment of this position may require the employee to work in extreme temperatures: wet, hot, cold, or humid conditions (indoor and outdoor); near moving mechanical parts; in high precarious places; areas where fumes or airborne particles are present; with or around toxic or caustic chemicals; in areas where the risk of electrical shock is present; around explosives; areas where the risk of radiation is present; and work that exposes the employee to vibration
· The visual demands of this position require: clear vision of less than 20 inches to greater than 20 feet; ability to identify and distinguish colors; peripheral vision and depth perception
· Exposure to noise levels ranging from very quiet to very loud
POSITION CLASSIFICATION AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
· Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings, nights and holidays as needed.
· Must be able to complete and maintain certification to operate a vehicle on the airfield
Pay: $68,000.00 per year
