Position: Payroll Administrator

Job Description: Hughes Group, Inc., is a parent company of several specialized heavy highway construction subcontractors in Jeffersonville, Indiana (Southern Indiana/Greater Louisville area). The Payroll Administrator will support the Payroll Supervisor and together will be responsible for the Payroll Department. This position will report to the Assistant Controller. The main objectives of this position will include:

Responsibilities

  • Assist with payroll processing and other related functions on an as needed basis.
  • Manage and track union pay rate and fringe benefit increases for various states.
  • Manage, update, and verify prevailing wage rates for projects.
  • Verify, prepare, and send weekly certified payroll reports and other required documentation to contractors and other third-parties.
  • Maintain payroll rate worksheets for operational budgeting purposes.
  • Process new hire paperwork and maintain employee master files.
  • Setup, track, and update garnishment orders for employees.
  • Monitor and help resolve ADP issues.
  • Review and respond to various unemployment requests or correspondence.
  • Review and respond to various federal, state, local payroll tax notices.
  • Prepare monthly union fringe benefit reports for the Accounts Payable Department.
  • Set up new state and local payroll tax accounts for new jurisdictions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 years’ experience as a Payroll Administrator (or similar position)
  • Experience working for a construction contractor is preferred
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Detail oriented
  • Willing to work in a group environment
  • Honest, dedicated, and accountable
  • Motivated
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Willing to have fun!
  • Is authorized to work in the U.S.

Job Type: Full-Time – 40 hours per week

Travel: Very Little (only for training purposes)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
