What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wound Care Tech position at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital?
Summary
The Wound Care Tech is responsible for a range of daily tasks including but not limited to clerical duties, maintenance of medical records, setting up follow up tests and procedures, insurance verification and chart audits. Additionally provide clinical support for nursing staff including but not limited to cleaning duties, stocking supplies and assistance with patient transfers and positioning as requested.
Education and Formal Training: High School graduate required with additional formal education in medical office administration preferred and/or CNA certification ; must be able to operate a computer at a high level of knowledge including Microsoft Word, Excel, scanning, and Email. Must have current certification in CPR or obtain within 30 days of hire.
Work Experience: Prefer two years prior medical office or CNA experience. Experience in use of common office equipment such as copier, fax, and shredder.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times. Must have excellent oral, written, and organizational skills. Actively functions as a patient advocate.Must have thorough knowledge of computers, data processing, word processing, and spreadsheets along with billing and patient registration functions.Must demonstrate knowledge of third party payor system including Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, PPO and HMO systems and assists with financial counseling of the patients.Maintains knowledge of current medical records requirements for outpatient departments and applies knowledge of policies and procedures related to medical record information, confidentiality, release of records, abbreviations, and historical data. Must develop knowledge of current hospital emergency policies and procedures, fire, safety, disaster, and infection control policies. Knowledgeable of all hospital compliance policies and maintains compliance in all areas of job function.
