Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management policies
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, using aseptic techniques and dental terminology accurately
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Manage patient records through electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix; document medical history, vital signs, treatment notes, and proper coding.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures to promote optimal patient care outcomes
- Handle administrative responsibilities including patient check-in/out as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments via patient management software, and verifying insurance information
- Follow all clinical confidentiality policies while maintaining infection control standards through proper dental instrument processing and dental equipment sterilization
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of general dentistry procedures; experience in pediatric dentistry or oral surgery is a plus
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix; familiarity with medical documentation and medical records management
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, dental x-ray techniques, and dental equipment operation
- Certification in dental assisting preferred; must be trained in infection prevention management, aseptic technique, and dental sterilization procedures
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while adhering to safety protocols; experience with 3D scanners is advantageous
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages; ability to manage patient care with empathy and professionalism
- Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control policies; familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards is essential
