Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious Asphalt Distributor Truck Driver and Operator (Class B with Tanker endorsement) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will operate specialized commercial vehicles to distribute asphalt materials efficiently across construction sites while adhering to all safety regulations. Your expertise in construction machinery maintenance, paving equipment operation, and understanding of DOT regulations will be vital to ensuring smooth project execution from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate asphalt distributor trucks equipped with tanker endorsements to apply bituminous materials on roadways and construction surfaces.
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on trucks and paving equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
• Follow all safety protocols and DOT regulations during vehicle operation and material handling to maintain a secure work environment.
• Assist with the setup and operation of paving equipment such as screeds, and loaders as needed on-site.
• Maintain accurate logs of materials distributed, vehicle inspections, and work performed for project documentation.
• Collaborate with team members to execute paving projects efficiently while adhering to project specifications and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Valid (Minimum) Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a Tanker endorsement required.
• Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, excavators, screeds, or concrete mixers.
• Strong mechanical knowledge for routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with asphalt paving processes, concrete work, rebar installation, and construction site operations.
• Knowledge of safety regulations including DOT standards and construction site safety protocols.
• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to paving projects, and material quantities.
• Prior experience working on civil infrastructure projects involving heavy machinery operation is highly preferred.

Essential Functions:

Understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet the standards of the project.

• Drives and operates distributor truck equipped with tank to spray asphalt emulsions on road surfaces.
• Connects hose from storage tank to truck tank and moves levers to fill pressure tank with asphalt liquid. Regulate burners to heat liquid and start auxiliary pump. Snap and screw spray bars. Turn valve to regulate flow of material and adjust levers to adjust height of spray bar. Monitor flow gauges, tachometer, and temp gauge to insure uniform distribution.
• Perform daily safety checks of liquid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to machine before operation. Responsible for daily maintenance of equipment to remain in proper and safe working order.
• Responsible for notifying supervisor of equipment repairs. Understand and execute different emulsions. Shifts may vary according to project demands.
• Facilitate a coordinated response to accidents and incidents as needed, by completing appropriate reports, communicating with company representatives and law enforcement, ensuring all efforts are made to reduce liability to the company through due diligence and thorough investigative efforts and fact checking.
• Places orders and maintains inventory of materials necessary for current and upcoming project demands.
• Responsible for overseeing all maintenance of Distributor/Tack truck and equipment, ordering parts as necessary, and communicating issues with all supervisory and shop staff when required.
• Maintain job and phase codes on all documentation for appropriate billing; submits reimbursement receipts appropriately when necessary.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
