Summary:
Active member of problem-solving teams within the school. Assist in child find activities. Conduct educational assessments of students suspected of having or who have a disability, as part of a multidisciplinary evaluation team. Assess, interpret and report evaluation findings. Collaborate with administrators, staff, and families to support student success.
Description
- Participates in child study, PBIS, department and problem-solving meetings, as requested.
- Interprets evaluation findings to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents, and students via personal contacts and written reports.
- Makes recommendations on ways to assist a student referred to him/her for evaluation or observation.
- Participates in crisis counseling and intervention as needed.
- Assists in developing school or district practices and procedures related to area of specialty.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
- Specialist’s degree or its equivalent, or PhD in school psychology from an institution with an approved program.
- Valid School Psychologist certificate.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the community, regulatory agencies or staff members.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and ledgers.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
