Lead Swim Instructor (Part-time - Flexible hours)

Hudson Valley Swim, a national franchise, is seeking a skilled, reliable and highly motivated lead swim instructor to teach and lead at our Rochester and Lee, NH facilities. We are looking to fill a unique position with a motivated individual who is willing to lead and help Hudson Valley Swim East NH grow to the next level.

The ideal candidate is someone who is nurturing, energetic, has experience teaching swimming lessons, and experience working with infants, children and adults. This is a year-round position. The successful candidate will lead swim classes with students of all ages, provide excellent customer service while teaching and interfacing with families, provide on the job training to new hires, and ensure a safe and healthy environment for all swimmers.

Please note, we do pay for training.

Hours:

Shift hours include some Sundays and weekdays from 3:00-7:00pm. This position includes both in the pool instruction, as well as being the face for Hudson Valley Swim. Hours when not instructing in the pool can be flexible. The position will require approximately 20-24hrs per week.

Responsibilities:

• Teach swim lessons to students of all ages and abilities, ranging from 6 months to adults. We are specifically looking to bring on someone who can specialize in teaching our infant, and toddler programs. There may be openings to teach students of all ages and skill levels.
• Follow a detailed lesson plan, while creating a fun and effective learning environment.
• Track student progress throughout sessions to evaluate their skills and ensure students are being placed into appropriate classes
• Monitor safety, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all students.
• Provide excellent teaching technique, commitment, promptness, responsiveness, and people skills.
• Co-teach with one of our senior instructors until proficient with our program, prior to "owning" own schedule.
• Assist in training newly hired swim instructors.
• Interfacing directly with families and also via email/phone.
• Assist in retention of families through session (bonus possibilities)!
• Assist in managing make-up lessons.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a swim instructor (preferred)
• Experience teaching infants, elementary, youth, teens, and adults swimming lessons (preferred)
• WSI certification is preferred, but extensive teaching experience will be considered.
• Lifeguard, CPR/First Aid certification strongly preferred.
• High School degree or equivalent (preferred)
