Hudson Valley Hospice is hosting a hiring event for Home Health Aide (HHA) positions.

We are actively seeking compassionate and reliable individuals to become HHAs.

• Already certified as an HHA, PCA, or CNA? Come interview with us on the spot.
• Not certified? You are still encouraged to attend. We offer free training classes to help you get started.
  
  
  

Training Opportunities Available:

• PCA to HHA transition course (5 days)
• CNA to HHA transition course (2 days)
• 13-day intensive training program for those without prior certification
  
  
  

Candidates will have the opportunity to take a pre-test and interview during the event. Based on results, we can place you into one of our training programs with the goal of employment.

What to Bring:

What you will do as an HHA:

• Completes Hospice Aide duties following established plan of care.
• Provide 24-hour continuous care for patient/families in their home, as needed.
• Reports all patient condition changes and/or uncontrolled symptoms to primary nurse, on-call nurse, TL or DPS immediately.
• Maintains adequate records of all patient/family care services, as per policy.
• Report all cases of abuse/neglect to supervisor, as per policy.
• Completes required competencies, infection control and ins-services.
• Assists with orientation of new Hospice Aides as requested by supervisor.
• Participates in community education activities which promote Hudson Valley Hospice and its philosophy.
• Notifies Hospice in the event of patient changes and uncontrolled symptoms.
  
  
  

Skills we are looking for:

• Requires flexibility to meet assigned tasks.
• Can effectively communicate in English, both verbally (in person and by phone) and in writing.
• Capability to work effectively and cooperatively as a team member.
• Understanding of hospice philosophy and the care we provide
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Bilingual is a plus!
  
  
  

Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Travel by car to patient’s home; reliable transportation required.
• Overtime available; weekend coverage required
• All shift availability - flexibility to work crisis-care hours when needed.
• Uniform - Scrubs required - provided by Hudson Valley Hospice.
• Ability to carry at least twenty-five pounds of equipment and/or supplies.
• Moderate to high risk of exposure to unsafe environments.
• Routine duties involve potential for direct exposure to blood or body fluids.
• Valid NYS driver’s license with reliable transportation
  
  
  

Hours/Schedules available: 40 hours per week - Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday (8:30am-4:30pm); one weekend day per month on call rotation

Pay: $19-23 per hour (based on experience)

FLSA: Non-Exempt
