Education Program Coordinator
The Education Program Coordinator is a part of the educational programming team at the Hudson River Maritime Museum. We strive to create inclusive and innovative programming that connects individuals with the maritime history of the Hudson River Valley, its industries, communities and natural environment. The Program Coordinator will be responsible for developing and executing programs for museum guests of all ages, school programs, camp groups, and on board our touring boat. The Program Coordinator should be comfortable adapting to current museum curriculum and developing new curriculum for different exhibits or topics. This individual should also be comfortable representing the museum at outreach events in the community.
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in History, Museum Studies, Education or related field
- Knowledge of and/or affinity with topics of NYS history is a priority
- 1 – 3 years of experience or internships in a non-profit cultural education department, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability towork independently, remotely, and in team environments
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills; must be able to prioritize, exhibit flexibility, and meet deadlines in a fast paced office environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experienced in basic office software (Word, Excel, Google docs)
- Experience with delivering programs virtually or learning new platforms to deliver virtual programming
- Open minded, collaborative, and positive attitude to develop a comfortable and inclusive work environment
Preferred
- Knowledge of local history, K-12 History curriculum and standards
- Passionate about informal, experiential teaching and learning; especially as it pertains to history and culture
- Highly proficient in learning new software systems
- Previous experience working with volunteers and/or docents (both adults and teens)
- Familiarity with museum administration, policies, and management
This is a full-time (35-40 hrs per week), year-round position reporting to the Director of Education. Flexible hours and some weekend work is required as needed. Pay rate is 38k – 42k dependent upon experience and hours worked. Benefits inc PTO, and medical insurance stipend.
