What are the responsibilities and job description for the Central Sterile Lead Technician position at Hudson Regional Hospital?
Position Summary
Ensures the safe and effective re-use of medical instruments and equipment.
Job Duties
- Prioritize Instruments with the O.R. Schedule & Ortho/Spine Coordinator to assure next day success
- Will Supervise staff in managers absence and lead staff to assure all equal daily duties are assigned and collaborate with Endoscopy coordinator to ensure that all endoscopes are properly sterilized
- Monitors all biological logs, sterilization records, and parameters are being recorded and documented correctly. Tallies Sterilization record daily (Corrects errors and notifies manager accordingly)
- Fills all orders for Central supplies and instruments. ( Must check all supplies before ordering)
- Processes, records and corrects all instrument repairs including all scopes and cameras (Reports any discrepancies or issues to OR Management immediately)
- Updates Manufacturer IFU Binder once a month and Updates SDS ( previously known as MSDS) Binder Yearly
- Will have super user capability on Instacount Instrument Tracking System
- Notifies O.R. management of potential equipment, instrument problems (Lost, stolen and or broken instruments)
- Ensures that all items are appropriately processed using either Sterrad or steam sterilization and all loads are documented and logged correctly.
- Completes required biological, chemical and Bowie Dick testing and documents results accordingly
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail oriented.
- Knowledgeable in standards of practice in sterile processing.
Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure Requirements
- H.S. Diploma.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in OR materials management, surgical services or hospital supply chain with 1 year in a supervisory role.
- CRCST required.
