What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scheduling & Registration Clerk position at HUDSON PHYSICIANS SC?
The hours will be 8a-5p, one late night (1030a-7p) and an UC weekend rotation.
JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to schedule patient appointments, verify and load insurance, and ensure patients are registered in a timely and accurate manner. This position is staffed during clinic hours with support needed with weekend rotation, evening hours, and Urgent Care coverage.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greeting patients in a friendly manner and answer any questions that may arise
- Schedule provider appointments following clinic protocols
- Schedule ancillary appointments including audiology, immunization, & lab
- Verify all patient insurances per protocols
- Verify demographic information, load patient insurance, request required information through pre-registration process, attach appropriate forms, and scan documents as necessary
- Coordinate EMR messages
- Obtain signatures on required forms such as PHI, release of records, and HIPAA
- Receive and process patient same day payments and copays
- Coordinate return to clinic notices
- Adjust provider schedules as needed on a daily basis
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals
- Support evening, weekend rotation, and Urgent Care hours
- Organize and maintain a clean efficient workspace and patient lobby
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Adhere to the philosophy and provide comprehensive care according to a patient centered healthcare clinic
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Subject to interruptions, imposed deadlines and frequent problem-solving activities
- Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, staff, and outside agencies

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Abide by ergonomic recommendations of the position
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetic devices that will enable these senses to function adequately
- Sit for several hours
- Subject to lifting and carrying supplies averaging 25 pounds

EDUCATION:
Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent
Desired: Post-secondary education or training in a health care setting
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum: One year in a customer service oriented position
Desired: Experience in a clinical setting
KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to work independently and multitask effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology desired
- Knowledge of health care insurance
- Working knowledge of PC, Windows & Microsoft Office
