Position Summary:
Hudson Lab Automation is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for assisting critical accounting processes, supporting accurate and timely financial reporting, and drive continuous improvement across the accounting function.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and bring a strong understanding of general accounting, inventory and cost accounting, financial analysis, and audit. This individual will take ownership of key aspects of the monthly and annual close processes, support audit activities, and partner with cross-functional teams to improve financial visibility and operational efficiency.
As our business continues to evolve, the ideal candidate must be adaptable, proactive, and comfortable managing competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and accountability. This position reports directly to the Head of Finance and works closely with leaders across Finance and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and review month end journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management reporting packages and quarterly reporting cycles, including 3 9, 6 6, and 9 3 forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Ad-hoc preparation of financial reports as required by management.
- Prepare weekly orderbook and backlog reports for financial review.
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Support inventory accounting, inventory reconciliations, and cycle count reviews.
- Assist in the analysis of inventory reserves, valuation, and manufacturing cost variances.
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to improve inventory accuracy and strengthen controls.
- Support product costing and production accounting activities within the ERP system.
General Accounting & Compliance
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Strong ability to reconcile reports and accounts as and when needed.
- Manage sales and use tax compliance activities through Avalara.
- Monitor outstanding customer balances and support collection efforts.
- Prepare and maintain monthly sales commission calculations and weekly backlog reporting for management review.
Audit & Tax
- Prepare audit schedules, documentation, and supporting analyses to facilitate efficient audit processes.
- Work with the tax accountant in preparation of Income tax reports.
- Resolve any tax audit queries by working closely with the head of finance.
Process Improvement & Special Projects
- Participate in ERP enhancements, system implementations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and operational objectives.
- Participate in special projects and other finance-related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, financial analysis, and reporting.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- 6 years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility supporting monthly close processes and audit activities.
- Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-intensive environment strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with ERP systems required; Acumatica experience is a plus.
