Job Description
The Patient Access Supervisor oversees the activities of Patient Access Representatives to ensure prompt patient access to hospital, clinic, and off-site services. The Supervisor coordinates day-to-day operations associated with the accurate and timely gathering of demographic, medical, insurance, and financial information, verification of benefits, appropriate admission and authorization forms, and collection of co-pays at time of service. The Supervisor provides guidance and coaching to the Patient Access staff to achieve positive customer relations while obtaining elements mandated by Health Information Management (HIM) and Patient Financial Services (PFS) in compliance with regulatory requirements. Assists with quality monitoring and oversees training of new and/or existing staff.
This position is responsible for maintaining department policies, procedures, business operations and overall systems support. Works collaboratively with end users, application analysts, and IT staff to develop workflows and solutions that meet business requirements. Trouble shoots problems and questions, escalates issues appropriately, collaborating with multiple teams to ensure accuracy and overall efficiencies.

Minimum Qualifications
- Associate's degree and/or equivalent experience in healthcare billing, patient access/admitting, or collections may be substituted.
- Minimum one year patient registration, prior authorization, insurance verification or scheduling experience in a hospital or medical clinic setting or equivalent.
- Experience in a customer service setting.
- Experience with Microsoft products, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Proficiency in positive customer relations.
- Must possess excellent leadership, verbal persuasion, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Healthcare Administration or a related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a hospital, and/or clinical based environment.
- Two years of previous patient registration, scheduling and/or patient accounting experience.
- Certification from a nationally recognized patient access/financial management organization.
- Training and/or certification in EPIC, Prelude, ADT HB and/or PB.
