Hudson Group is an international retailer and distributor primarily involved in the sport and fashion wear sectors. The Group’s head office is in Malta but is also present through offices in Italy, Cyprus, Morocco, Nigeria, Kenya and Algeria.

Though Hudson Holdings was founded in 2006, the Group’s roots reach as far back as 1987 when the first pair of NIKE was sold in Malta.

Role purpose

The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for customers, employees, and visitors. The role focuses on protecting company assets, preventing loss, responding to incidents, and ensuring compliance with company security procedures while delivering professional customer service.

The key duties and responsibilities of the role are as follows:

• Monitor the store, entrances, exits, stockrooms, and surrounding areas to deter theft, vandalism, and other security risks.
• Conduct regular patrols of the store and designated areas throughout each shift.
• Greet customers and maintain a visible security presence to promote a safe shopping environment.
• Identify and respond appropriately to suspicious behaviour, shoplifting, or security incidents in accordance with company procedures.
• Support the Store Management team with loss prevention initiatives and stock protection.
• Monitor CCTV systems where applicable and report any suspicious activity.
• Control access to restricted areas, including stockrooms and back-of-house facilities.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical incidents, fire alarms, and evacuation procedures.
• Complete accurate incident reports and maintain security logs for all relevant events.
• Liaise with law enforcement and emergency services when required.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and report any hazards or unsafe conditions.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures as required.
• Support internal investigations relating to theft, loss, or security breaches.
• Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times, representing Hudson positively.

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

Essential

• Previous experience in a security, retail security, or customer-facing role.
• Valid Private Guard Licence (issued by Malta Police force).
• Good observation and situational awareness skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
• High level of integrity, reliability, and discretion.
• Basic IT literacy for incident reporting.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and extended trading hours where required.

Desirable

• First Aid certification.
• Experience within a retail environment.
• Knowledge of CCTV monitoring systems and loss prevention practices.
