Position Overview
The Head of Talent Strategy & HR Operations will lead end-to-end recruitment and human resources operations for our $10 billion alternative asset management firm, spanning both hedge fund and private equity strategies. This executive will oversee talent acquisition for all investment and non-investment professionals, partner directly with business unit heads, and act as a strategic advisor to portfolio companies. A primary mandate of this role is to modernize the talent function by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation to maximize operational efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Talent Acquisition
- Lead full-cycle recruiting for all investment (analysts, portfolio managers) and non-investment (ops, tech, legal, compliance) roles.
- Partner with firm leadership to forecast headcount needs and align talent acquisition with business growth.
- Design and execute sophisticated sourcing strategies to attract diverse, elite talent in a highly competitive market.
Portfolio Company Advisory
- Serve as a human capital consultant to private equity portfolio companies on executive search and talent infrastructure.
- Standardize best-practice recruiting frameworks across portfolio companies to accelerate their hiring cycles.
- Assess leadership teams within target or existing portfolio investments to identify talent gaps and opportunities.
AI & Operational Innovation
- Evaluate, implement, and scale AI-driven recruiting tools to optimize candidate screening, sourcing, and scheduling.
- Modernize HR operations by leveraging automation to streamline onboarding, background checks, and data management.
- Utilize advanced data analytics and predictive modeling to track hiring metrics, retention trends, and time-to-hire.
Business Partnership & Leadership
- Act as a trusted advisor to institutional business heads, delivering transparent updates on the talent pipeline.
- Manage and mentor an internal team of recruiters and HR operations specialists.
- Oversee relationships with elite third-party executive search firms and vendor negotiations.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience
- Total Experience: 10 years of progressive talent acquisition and HR operations experience.
- Industry Match: Proven track record within a major hedge fund, private equity firm, or asset manager.
- Portfolio Exposure: Demonstrated experience advising or hiring for private equity portfolio companies.
- Tech Implementation: Direct experience deploying AI, machine learning, or advanced automation tools within HR ecosystems.
