LABORERS
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is routine manual work requiring no previous training and experience, but requiring physical endurance and willingness to perform menial tasks. Constant oversight is maintained over work at all times Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
Cleans and maintains the interior and exterior of buildings and grounds;
Performs unskilled work in concrete, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, masonry and landscaping work;
Load and unload trucks;
Carries supplies and tools;
Labor work as needed;
Performs a variety of groundskeeping activities including but not limited to: snow removal, mowing and trimming lawns, planting and weeding;
Laborers with Columbia County may take instruction from and report to the Sr. Building Maintenance Worker and/or Facilities Administration.
Columbia County Laborers may be required to pick up and carry messages, documents, packages, and other items between offices or departments within an establishment or to other business concerns, traveling by foot, automobile, or public conveyance.
FULL PERFORMANCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Willingness to perform routine manual work; ability to lift heavy weights; physical endurance; good physical condition.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None is required but some experience in manual labor is desirable.
