PRN In‑Home Caregiver — Job Overview
Huckleberry In‑Home Care is seeking dependable and compassionate PRN Caregivers to join our ready‑to‑deploy staffing pool. This role is designed for caregivers who want flexible, as‑needed work while helping us prepare for upcoming clients who are in the onboarding process.
PRN caregivers complete training, orientation, and onboarding in advance so they can be dispatched quickly when new cases begin. This ensures that families receive timely, high‑quality support the moment services start. Many of our clients live with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, mobility challenges, or developmental disabilities and rely on caregivers who can step in with confidence and skill.
Responsibilities
- Be available for assignment as new clients begin services, including short‑notice or supplemental coverage.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, mobility support, and medication reminders according to individualized care plans.
- Monitor client safety and condition by observing behavior, mobility, and any changes that require attention.
- Provide companionship and emotional reassurance to promote comfort and reduce anxiety or confusion.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping, laundry, meal prep, and general organization.
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and approved transfer techniques.
- Document care provided and observations clearly, accurately, and in compliance with HIPAA privacy standards.
- Follow emergency procedures including CPR, first aid, and contacting appropriate parties when needed.
Experience & Qualifications
We welcome both experienced caregivers and motivated individuals new to the field. Additional hands‑on training may be provided for the right candidate.
Preferred experience includes:
- Prior caregiving in home care, assisted living, group homes, nursing facilities, or similar environments.
- Experience supporting individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s, neurodevelopmental disorders, or developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with care plans, ADLs, medication assistance, and basic patient monitoring (including vital signs).
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and professional documentation standards.
- CPR and First Aid certification (required or obtained upon hire).
- Experience with long‑term care or hospice is a plus.
Schedule & Pay
This is a PRN (as‑needed) position.
Hours are not guaranteed and will be offered based on:
- New client onboarding
- Supplemental coverage needs
- Last‑minute or non‑recurring shifts
- Your availability and skill match
Pay Range: Same as our standard caregiver rate.
Training: All PRN caregivers receive 8 paid training hours upon hire to ensure readiness for client assignments.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
