K-4 Library & Technology Innovation Specialist
Location: Huckleberry Hill School
Reports to: Director of Technology/ Building Principal
Position Overview:
Lynnfield Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, dually-certified Library & Technology Innovation Teacher to lead our newly reimagined K-4 program. This role is at the heart of our 21st Century Learner Pathway, transforming the traditional Library Media Center into a hub of "Library & Innovation." The candidate will manage the school library while delivering a robust, project-based curriculum that integrates children’s literature, information literacy, digital citizenship, and computer science.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Delivery: Implement and teach a library and technology-centered curriculum, K-4. Collaborate with other library and innovation teachers as well as the Director of Technology. Provide curriculum support and resources to classroom teachers and support staff.
Integrated Instruction: Facilitate lessons that seamlessly blend three core components:
Library: Children’s Literature, research, and information-gathering skills.
Digital Literacy: Responsible use of technology and digital citizenship.
Innovation (CS): Computer science and hands-on engineering.
Standards Alignment: Ensure all instruction aligns with both DESE DLCS (Digital Literacy and Computer Science) and AASL National School Library Standards
Library Leadership: Expertise in Children’s Literature, collection development, cataloging, and curation of learning materials.
Qualifications:
Certification: Must hold (or be eligible for) dual MA DESE certification in School Library and either Instructional Technology (IST) or Digital Literacy and Computer Science (DLCS).
Experience: Proven experience in project-based learning (PBL) and managing a library, makerspace, or STEAM environment.
Skills: Proficiency with elementary-level CS tools (e.g., Microbits, Scratch, Dash Robots), library management software, iPads, and 1:1 Chromebook environments.
Salary Range: $61,848 - $118,668 per year. This is a union-represented position. Starting salary is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) based on the candidate's verified years of experience and educational degree (Steps and Lanes).
