Responsibilities of a Residential & Commercial Building Inspector include:
- Conduct residential/commercial building inspections of permitted projects to ensure compliance with the Uniform Construction Code (UCC)
- Prepare written inspection reports and provide deficiencies to contractor for corrections needed
- Attend any required pre-construction or construction progress meetings requested by contractor
- Possess and maintain UCC certifications to perform applicable inspections for residential or commercial projects
- As applicable based on certifications possessed, review of residential and commercial building plans and issuance of building permits
Education and Experience of a Residential and Commercial Building Inspector include:
- Electrical certification required
- PA UCC (Uniform Construction Code) knowledge and experience
- Associate or bachelor’s degree, high school diploma or GED required
- Valid PA driver’s license required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements of a Residential and Commercial Building Inspector include:
- Ability to navigate construction sites and buildings, climbing ladders, crawling through tight spaces, navigating uneven terrain. physically demanding and require inspectors to spend extended periods on their feet and moving throughout the day.
- Ability to inspect structural components, systems, and finishes of a building. This includes the ability to identify defects, code violations, and safety hazards.
