Summary/Objective

The cost accountant is responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs. Other duties include processing journal entries, as well as compiling and maintaining various financial reports. In addition, this position works in conjunction with the finance/controlling manager to assure a timely month-end close.

Essential Functions

• Assists in preparing month and year end financial reporting.

2. Assists in establishing and maintaining budgets and forecasts.

3. Develops and evaluates key performance indicators to optimize manufacturing processes.

4. Analyzes manufacturing costs for optimization, including review of labor and overhead costs, account code distribution, and variance analyzes.

5. Shares responsibility along with finance and controlling manager for accounting and costing functions, including audit and compliance to tax law and other statutory regulations.

6. Assists in managing capital assets and investment decisions. Perform make, buy, or lease analyses.

7. Assists with day to day accounting activities including:

• Accounts Payable, Receivables, and Inventory functions;
• Job development credits and DOR incentive programs;
• Price calculations and Non-Recurring Cost budgets for development projects.
• Other duties as determined by skill level and corporate need.

Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The performance of this position will require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and/or side shields.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Five years of related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Related work experience in cost accounting/manufacturing environments.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, ORACLE, ABAS).

• Knowledge of standard Office Technologies, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, etc.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)
