Position Summary
Feed mill with logs from wood yard as designated by a wood storage and use schedule. Unloads incoming log trucks into wood storage.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Operates Portal Crane and other mobile equipment and performs routine maintenance on equipment.
- Completes mobile equipment operator’s report daily.
- Notifies Maintenance Department and/or shift supervisor of operating deficiencies noted during inspections and/or operations.
- Unloads log trucks and places into wood storage inventory as directed by scalers.
- Builds stacks that are uniform and neat.
- Keep stray logs picked up and clear of both sets of rails.
- Removes logs from wood storage and places on in feed decks.
- Assists in keeping logs straight on in feed decks.
- Maintains communication with wood scaler
- Adheres to wood storage and wood rotation schedule.
- Ensures safety of log truck drivers by monitoring position of trucks and location and activities of truck drivers and providing verbal instructions as needed via radio.
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Maintains operations by reading, interpreting, and applying complex written instructions in the form of Standard Operating procedures and other written instructions.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0 to 3 Years Manufacturing Experience.
- 0 to 3 Years crane operator experience preferred
- Performs general physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, moving whole body and multilimbed coordination.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays per shift schedule
