The SMT (Surface Mount Technology) operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of SMT production equipment to ensure efficient, high-quality electronic assembly. This role supports production by operating key machinery including screen printers and pick-and-place systems, while maintaining adherence to process standards and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate and monitor SMT equipment, including screen printers and pick-and-place machines, to support production schedules.
* Perform machine setup, changeovers, and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
* Ensure accurate solder paste application and component placement according to production specifications.
* Inspect PCB assemblies for defects and verify quality standards are met.
* Work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to resolve process issues.
* Maintain and clean SMT equipment to ensure optimal performance.
* Follow ESD, safety, and company procedures at all times.
* Document production data, issues, and corrective actions as required
* High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
* 2 years of experience in an SMT manufacturing environment (preferred).
* Hands-on experience operating SMT screen printers and pick-and-place equipment.
* Basic understanding of electronic components and PCB assembly processes.
* Ability to read work instructions, assembly drawings, and BOMs.* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Skills (Plus Qualifications)
* Experience with SMT machine programming is a strong plus.
* Experience working with Juki SMT equipment is highly desirable.
* Familiarity with SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) and AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems.
* Knowledge of IPC standards (such as IPC-A-610).
