Job Overview
Based in Leeds, AL and reporting directly to the Cost Manager, the Cost Accountant will serve as a key member of the Finance team and have responsibility for a variety costing and inventory activities. This position is principally responsible for the ongoing maintenance of standard costs, month end closing activities, reporting and controls.
A Day In The Life
Monthly closing and reporting process, using financial reporting systems.
Working with Bill of Materials and Product Routings through SAP system.
Assist in monthly variance analysis including, but not limited to, PPV, freight, material usage, production
order, labor, and burden (overhead) variances.
Verify compliance with internal controls, including SOX compliance.
Reviewing, analyzing and updating standard product costs as they relate to labor, material and overhead.
Assist in cycle counts and physical inventories and reconcile all differences.
Assisting with department spending analysis and facility budgets and forecasts.
Support for internal and external audit activities.
Complete ad hoc financial information requests.
Performs other related work as assigned.
What will help you thrive in this role?
1-3 years cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Strong analytical, planning and communication skills.
Strong computer skills; Microsoft Excel & Word. Proficiency in SAP is a plus.
